Your Initial Consultation

  • For your first visit to the office, plan for your appointment to last approximately two hours. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time for you to familiarize yourself with our office location and to complete registration information. To save time, you may complete this registration step online at www.drmentz.com. This first visit usually includes a meeting with the nurse, and may also include time for taking photographs, viewing computer images, and discussing pricing and scheduling.
  • In order to provide Dr. Mentz with a more comprehensive understanding of your health, please bring information about your medical history, including the names of doctors you’ve previously seen, hospitals where you’ve been a patient, and details relating to any personal medical conditions.
  • For consultations related to body contouring, liposculpture or abdominal etching procedures, you will be provided with a robes and packaged undergarments. But if you prefer more coverage, you may bring a swimsuit.

Nursing Interview

You will meet privately with either a nurse or Dr. Mentz’s patient coordinator, AnaLisa Cole. At this time, your medical history will be reviewed and you will have the opportunity to view “Before and After” photos of the procedures in which you are interested. A computer imaging session will allow you to describe and visualize the changes you would like see in your appearance. Using a photo that she has taken of you, AnaLisa will redraw the areas you wish to cosmetically alter to help you visualize the change in your appearance after a procedure. You may choose to have her redraw the proportions of your nose or chin, remove baggy areas under the eyes, or lift and smooth sagging, wrinkled areas on the face and body. Dr. Mentz will review these images and determine if any adjustments are necessary for your particular situation.

Consultation with Dr. Mentz

After reviewing your medical information and discussing your image goals more fully, Dr. Mentz will recommend the various surgical and non-surgical options that would best help you to achieve your desired results, along with the benefits and potential drawbacks of each one. In addition, he will discuss the necessary preoperative and postoperative plans to follow for a particular procedure(s). You are encouraged to make a list of any questions you may have before your appointment and to ask any that may arise during your consultation so that Dr. Mentz can fully address each one with you.

Pricing and Scheduling

Once you have completed your consultation with Dr. Mentz, AnaLisa will provide you with a quote that includes the fees for surgery, anesthesia, and the surgical facility, and she will discuss the various payment options available to you. Because Dr. Mentz has a private surgical center, he is able to provide you with a quote that includes all costs, so that you can accurately gauge the true total cost of your surgical procedure. When planning a time to schedule a procedure, most individuals schedule surgery more than one week in advance in order to make arrangements related to work and child care, and post-operative help at home. To help you prepare for your surgery, you will be given a packet which will list helpful information, including medications to avoid, and steps to follow both before and after your surgery.
